James Lewis "Pete" Mahan, Sr. a longtime resident of Schulter passed away Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019 in Henryetta at the age of 84. He was born April 8, 1935 in Okay, Oklahoma to James Samuel Mahan and Sarah (Underwood) Mahan.
Pete married Peggy Willine Stidman on July 14th, 1962 in Schulter, Oklahoma. He was an independent trucker and only recently retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James & Sarah Mahan, his wife Peggy Willine Mahan, a grandson, Jeffery Lynn Mahan, Jr., a brother, Johnny Mahan, four sisters, Anna Lee Ashing, Betty Mahan, Elizabeth Wildcat & Pat Bell, as well as several beloved in-laws.
He is survived by four children:
James Lewis Mahan, Jr. & wife Rosa of Okemah;
Jeffrey Lynn Mahan & wife Renee of Wilson;
Michael Henry Mahan & fiancé Roxanne Smith of Schulter;
Kelli Denise Endres & husband Kevin of Schulter;
Eleven grandchildren, Codey Mahan, Alicia Mahan & Tommy Whisler, Nikita Hoover, Sherri & Mario Martinez, Matthew Mahan, Johnathan Mahan, Emily Mahan, Sarah & Curtis Taylor, Olivia & Justin Winter, Jordan Endres;
Five great grandchildren;
One brother, Ed Mahan of Claremore;
One brother-in-law, Bobby Stidman & wife Debi of Kusa;
Sister-in-law, Suzie (Stidman) Short & husband Darrel of Dallas, TX;
Sister-in-law, Mary Stidman of Henryetta;
Also by a host of friends and other relatives.
Viewing for Pete will be from 6-8 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2019 and 1-8pm on Sunday and 8am until noon on Monday.
Pallbearers will be, Codey Mahan, Tommy Whisler, Curtis Taylor, Justin Winter, Josh Parnell, & Mario Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Mahan & Johnathan Mahan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 29th, 2019 at Schulter Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Barton officiating. Interment will follow in Salt Creek Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
