Janetta Jean Harjo

Janetta Jean Harjo, 73 of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Janetta was born on January 30, 1952 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Jack and Nancy (Gouge) Harjo.

Janetta grew up in Hanna and graduated from Hanna High School and later attended Connors State College graduating with an Associates degree in education. Janetta was a Kindergarten Teacher and enjoyed her time as a teacher until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and the simple things in life. She will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing her.

Janetta is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters a son, Brian Harjo and a granddaughter.

Survivors include her two sons, Marcus Harjo of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Michael Tiger of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; Brother, Leroy Harjo of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Sisters, Helen Erwin of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Bernice Proctor of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Kendal Tiger of Okemah, Oklahoma and Tuff Monahwee of Okmulgee and Mia Bell of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Viewing for Janetta will be on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 2:00 PM till 3:30 PM at Integrity Funeral Service, 410 East Trudgeon Street, Henryetta, Oklahoma 74437.

A wake service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Hanna Indian Community Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Hanna Indian Community Center with Reverend Phillip Harjo officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Harjo-Gouge Family Cemetery in Hanna, Oklahoma.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Bruner, Jack Harjo, Kendal Tiger, Toby Gouge, Michael Erwin and Chad Harjo.
