Jerry Vail, longtime resident of Henryetta, was born on June 30, 1941 in Norman, Oklahoma to James E. Vail and Anna (Westervelt) Vail. Jerry passed away in Tulsa on Monday, July 11, 2011 at the age of 70. Jerry grew up in southwestern Oklahoma and he was married to Patty Reid on April 9, 1960 in El Reno, Oklahoma and remained married for 51 years. Jerry was a member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and retired after many years of faithful public service in that capacity. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Henryetta and the Tulledega Masonic Lodge. He was extremely active in the Henryetta community having served as city manager of Henryetta. He had also previously worked for the Henryetta Public School system. He is preceded in death by his father, James Vail; and by Chick and Theda Reid, his father-in-law and mother-in-law. Jerry is survived by his wife Patty, of the home; a daughter, Robin Lollis and husband Bruce of Henryetta; his son, Mike Vail of Henryetta; by a grandson, Keaton Lollis and a grandaughter, Kellyn Lollis of Henryetta; by his mother, Ann Vail of Apache, OK; a brother, Richard Vail and wife Betty of Apache, OK; 3 nephews, Brent Vail and wife Diane, Bryan Vail and wife Lori, and Todd Vail and wife Melissa, all of Apache; a niece, Amy Ferguson and husband Tommy of Lindsey, OK; and by a host of other relatives and many close friends. Viewing will be Thursday, 8am - 8pm, Friday, 8am - 8pm and Saturday, 8am - 10am. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Durnell and Rev. Dave Kelley officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
