Jerry Harris Jackson, a resident of Ft.Gibson, was received into the arms of his God on September 25, 2013 in Henryetta, OK at the age of 76. He was born Wednesday, August 11, 1937 in Henryetta, OK to Harris Tiner "June" Jackson and Equilla Pharaoh Jackson. Jerry spent his youth enjoying hunting, fishing, and being active in Boy Scouts, where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Jerry attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in geology. While at OSU, he met and married Sharon Ruth Hart. After graduation, Jerry served in the US Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He started his career as a geologist employed by Kerr McGee Mining which took him to New Mexico. He lived and raised his family in Albuquerque for 25 years. In 1993, he returned to Oklahoma where he worked as a hydro-geologist at Camp Gruber until his retirement in 2002. Jerry and Sharon enjoyed traveling. They took trips to Alaska, Europe and China. They also spent time visiting their children and grandchildren. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and his father. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Jackson of Ft. Gibson; his sister, Jane Young and husband Robert of Tucson; niece, Kimberly Harshbarger and husband John; daughter, Linda Jane Rodgers and husband Raymond of Sapulpa; son, Jerry Craig Jackson and wife Alisha of Gunnison, CO; daughter, Julie Wells and husband Mark of Houston, TX. He is sweetly remembered as "Papa" by his nine grandchildren, Kateri and Kallie Rodgers, Bekha, Kelsey, and Jarrod Wells, Stephen "Bunk", Ellie, Molly and Cade Jackson; two great grandsons, Luke Haddin Cornelius and Kellin Harris Neal; and 5 great nieces and nephews, Colton Jackson Harshbarger, Caydon Jane Harshbarger, Jolene Jane Harshbarger, and twin brothers, Preston Robert Harshbarger and Weldon Raymond Harshbarger. The family has designated the Eastern Heights Baptist Church, 2401 Haskell Blvd., Muskogee, OK 74403 as appropriate for memorial contributions. A graveside service for Jerry is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 1:00pm at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta with Rev. Jeff Mann officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
