Jim O'Neal Moudy, of Oklahoma City, passed away September 27, 2009 in Oklahoma City at the age of 74. Jim was born July 16, 1935 in Dardenelle, Arkansas to John Orvil Moudy and Georgia Fay Christy Moudy. Jim grew up and attended school in Dewar, OK where he played on four state championship football teams for Dewar High School. Jim graduated from Dewar High School. After high school, Jim joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. After his military service, Jim returned to Oklahoma where he attended college in Wilburton, OK and finished his education at The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma, majoring in psychology and sociology. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honors fraternity. Jim married Carol Shackelford on October 11, 1963 in Norman, Oklahoma and they remained married for 46 years. Jim was self-employed operating Jim Moudy Distributing in Oklahoma City. During his career he also served as President of the Young Democrats of Oklahoma. He was a member of Toastmasters and served as chairman of the Oklahoma Toastmasters organization. Jim also generously devoted his time working with problem youths improving their speaking and presentation skills with the Toastmasters organization. He promoted support of the Goodwill organization and was actively supportive of the Multiple Schlerosis Society. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Jim is survived by his wife Carol Moudy of the home; a son, Shannon O'Neal Moudy and his wife Leslee of Tulsa; 2 beloved grandaughters that were dearly loved by their "Poohpa", Kaitlyn "KK" Moudy and Kristyn "Nikki" Moudy, both of Tulsa; a sister, Marylu Durbin and husband Buddy of Dewar; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred and Audra Fox of Moore, OK; a sister-in-law, Betty Kelly of Oklahoma City; a brother-in-law, Al Manuel; many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly ; and many other good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Hazel Manuel. The family has designated the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, or any charitable organization of your choice, as appropriate for memorial contributions. Pallbearers will be Shannon O'Neal Moudy, Barry Durbin, Dan Brown, Richard Manuel, Russell Manuel, and Greg Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be Dane Brown, Cale Brown, and Lincoln Cole. Viewing and visitation will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 30 from 8AM to 8PM. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Schulter Baptist Church in Schulter, OK officiated by Jim's cousin, Rev. George Christy. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
