John Robert Holt, a lifelong resident of Henryetta, passed away in Tulsa on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the age of 58. John was born on September 9, 1954 in Henryetta to Charles Robert Holt and Lois Maxine Klimek Holt. John grew up in the Henryetta area, attending Henryetta Public Schools and Wilson School. After his high school years, John joined the Oklahoma National Guard and served for several years in the Okemah-based National Guard group. John worked for approximately 17 years for Anchor Glass where he worked in glass manufacturing before an injury mandated his retirement. He loved to fish and hunt and especially treasured time spent with his friends and family. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Robert Holt who passed away on August 9, 2012. John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy Holt of the home; His mother, Lois Maxine Holt of Henryetta; Two sons, Dusty Holt and wife Tina of Atoka John David Holt of Henryetta; A daughter, Stephanie Holt of Henryetta; Five grandchildren, Lacey Dawn Holt, John Robert Holt, Jr., Tamara Holt, Tison Holt and Heaven Holt; One brother, Lloyd Ray Holt and wife Marsha; Three sisters, Pat Alston and husband Jimmy of Henryetta, Linda Branson and husband Larry of Henryetta, Sharon Kellogg and husband Rusty of Henryetta; As well as numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. Pallbearers will be Terry Sandlin, Chris Sandlin, Kenneth Montgomery, Michael Ray Alston, Jimmy Lee Alston, and Cody Kellogg. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd Ray Holt, Dusty Holt and John David Holt. Viewing & visitation will be held on Tuesday from 8am until 8pm, and on Wednesday from 8am until 8pm. A funeral service for John will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 2:00pm in the Chapel at Shurden Funeral Home with Donnie Williamson officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
