John T. Morris, a resident of Dewar passed away Monday, January 30th, 2017 in Henryetta at the age of 85. He was born August 26, 1931 in Henryetta to John Morris & Verda (Jarnagin) Morris.
John Married Merle Jean Ritter on December 19, 1968 in Dewar. He was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church.
John was a man of many trades, he worked for many years as the manager of Henryetta Daily Freelance and as manager for the local radio station, KHEN. John was emcee for many events as his bass voice was widely known. It was possible when you would call a local business that the message while you were on hold was that of John Morris. He loved music and sang in various quartets including the Rainbow Quartet, The Henryettan's and had the Genesis Quartet for 12 years. He was well known to sing solos in church and other events. He also worked for many years as an insurance agent retiring from Prudential Life Insurance Company. He was a jack of all trades and could build or repair anything.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Morris.
He is survived by his wife Merle Jean Morris of the home;
Four children: Dennis Morris & wife Mary Beth of Henryetta;
Terry Morris & wife Debi of Henryetta;
Michelle Winn & husband Roger of Morris;
Donna Fields & husband Harvey of Jenks;
Eight grandchildren: Kristen Averie Long, Randy Morris, Mollie Lilly, John David Cowan, Sarah Stockholm, Allison Palmer, Kyle Morris & Ambria Winn.
Fifteen great grandchildren & seven great-great grandchildren
One brother: Don "Tootie" Morris of Henryetta;
One sister: Phyllis Luensmann of Texas;
As well as a host friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be on Thursday at Integrity Funeral Service from 5-8pm and Friday from 8am - 8pm with family present to greet friends from 5-7 pm & Saturday from 8am-11am.
Pallbearers will be David Long, Kyle Morris, Randy Morris, John David Cowan, Brandon Long, & Justin Long.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Matthew Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
