Johnny Ray Kennedy

Johnny Ray Kennedy was born August 5, 1944 at John Taylor Hospital in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Ernest and Florence Kennedy. After a battle with melanoma cancer John passed away at home on Sunday Feb. 14, 2016. John graduated from Henryetta High School as a "Hen" in 1962. He was awarded All District Honors in football. He was also chosen "neatest" and "all around best boy" for his senior year annual. He won first place at state competition for men's vocal trio. His greatest award was his faith in the Lord and he stated "No matter the outcome of his battle with cancer it was a win win situation for him." John worked many years with wife Kathy serving people as owners of Aunt Bea's Restaurant in Okmulgee and later as a Winterization Expert with Deep Fork Community Action helping low income and elderly in several counties surrounding Henryetta. Johnny is survived by his wife Kathy of the home, a daughter Dana Rae Osborn of Oklahoma City, a brother Larry Kennedy and wife Bea of Henryetta, two grandsons Jayson Osborn and Joey Elledge and nephew Ryan Bunch. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Kennedy, sisters Dolores Reed and Joyce Delso. John was a man of faith in Christ Jesus and spent many years as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, board member and part of the bus ministry at the Henryetta Nazarene Church. He and Kathy were blessed to go on two missions trips to Brazil and one to Kenya Africa. He also enjoyed many vacation trips with his best buddy Larry and wife Bea and various family trips with nieces, nephews and grandsons. John was a wonderful husband, an awesome brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. He was dearly loved by relatives and friends and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8-8pm with family greeting friends from 6-8pm. Pallbearers will be David Evans, Floyd Gold, Slick Henderson, Kevin Johnson, Sammy Johnson, & Jesse Leach. Honorary pallbearers will be H.H.S. Class of 1962. Stacey Powell Jim Stoy Celebration of John's Home Going will be Thursday Feb. 18, at 2:00 pm at Henryetta Nazarene Church. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
