Joie Lou Russell

Joie Lou (Hammontree) Russell, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May
23rd, 2024 at her home in Lowell, IN surrounded by loving family. Joie was born on
December 11th, 1943, in Hanna, Oklahoma, to Leo and Lorene (Garrison)
Hammontree.

Joie was raised in Henryetta and attended Northeastern State University where she
earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in Elementary Education. She loved her
career as an educator and positively impacted the lives of countless children who had
the opportunity to enter her classroom. After her retirement, she relocated to Lowell,
Indiana where she enjoyed living with her daughter and son-in-law. Throughout her life,
Joie read her bible and studied the word of God daily. She was a member of the First
Church of the Nazarene. Her love of music and playing the piano was lifelong. Joie
stayed consistent to the true meaning of family and always showed concern for others
above herself. The love for her family never wavered and within her home the words "I
love you" were heard daily. Her beautiful smile was absolutely legendary.

She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Lorene Hammontree and her brother
Jimmie Hammontree.

Family left to cherish Joie's memory include her daughter, Diane Parker and husband
Brian of Lowell, Indiana; Son, Jerry Russell and Tonya Waterman of Beggs, Oklahoma.
Grandchildren, Amanda Parker, Lauren Parker, Jerry Russell and Zaine Russell; Great
grandchildren, Brookelynn Russell and Jace Russell; Niece and nephew Debbie
Hammontree and Jimmie Hammontree and sister-in-law Laverne Hammontree.

Viewing for Joie will be from 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Integrity Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Integrity Funeral Chapel with burial to follow the service at Hanna Cemetery in Hanna, Oklahoma. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
