Joseph Jacobs, Sr.

Joseph Jacobs Sr., a longtime resident of the Henryetta area, died Thursday, September 24, 2009 in Okmulgee at the age of 84. He was born December 28, 1924 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to John Jacobs and Susan (Davis) Jacobs. Joseph married Emma Billie Jacobs on December 3, 1948 in Henryetta. Joseph was a member of the Hickory Ground #1 Indian Baptist Church in rural Henryetta, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma Jacobs, 2 infant daughters, and one son, James Jacobs, 2 grandsons, David Lee Jacobs and Charles Jacobs, 2 brothers and one sister. He is survived by: his son, Paul Jacobs of Henryetta, son Johnny Jacobs & wife Clara of Henryetta, son, David Jacobs of Henryetta, daughter, Linda Harjo & husband Edward of Holdenville, daughter, Martha Jacobs of Henryetta, son, Joseph Jacobs Jr. & wife Naomi, son, Russell Jacobs of Okmulgee, 19 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 nephews, Barney Jacobs of Wewoka, John Josie of Henryetta, one nieces, Beverly Yahola of Muskogee, and a host of other relatives and friends. A wake service will be held on Sunday evening at Hickory Ground #1 at 7:00 PM in Rural Henryetta, Oklahoma. Viewing will begin on Saturday, September 25, 2009 from 12-8 pm and on Sunday from 12:00pm - 3:30pm. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Hickory Ground #1. Interment will follow in the Jacobs Family Cemetery in Henryetta under direction of Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
