Shurden Funeral Home 411 West Division Street Henryetta, OK 74437 (918) Fax (918) 652-4451 Josie Beatrice Farrice was born on March 19, 1916 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Hall & Odie (Howerton) Self. She passed away on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She married Jessie Farrice on October 14, 1933. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1997. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness Faith, but she enjoyed attending other churches. She worked a few years for OSU Tech as a House Mother. She also wrote the Hitchita News for the Checotah Paper for several years. She loved her gardening and her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Jim Farrice, three brothers, Eugene Self, J.F. Self and E.E. Self, and one sister Jessie Foster. She is survived by her son, Prentiss Farrice & wife Kay of Bartlesville, grandchildren, Mike Farrice of Dallas, Dawn DeArmond of Hutchinson, Kansas, Jamie Mertens of Garden Plain, Kansas, Michelle Lowden of Hutchinson, Kansas, Lance Farrice of Sedan, Kansas, six great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Lavonne Farrice of Goddard, Kansas, sister, Joyce Baldridge & husband Floyd of Okmulgee, brother, Junior Self & wife Leda of Warsaw, Indiana, as well as many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Mike Lowden, Lance Farrice, Alvin Potts, Lawrence McCullah, Floyd Baldridge, and Mark Baldridge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sissy Carpenter, Louise Duvall, Joe Brown, Annie Brown, Levon Duvall, Helen Allison, and Rhonda Bryce. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Saturday and from 1-8pm on Sunday at Shurden Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Freewill Baptist Church in Hitchita, Oklahoma with Rev. Orville J. Hood, officiating.
