Katherine M. (Landsberrry) Chaney

April 24, 1917 — July 6, 2015

Katherine Landsberry Chaney was born April 24, 1917 in Gerard, Kansas. She was the daughter of Robert and Carrie Landsberry. At the age of six, Kate moved with her family to Henryetta, Oklahoma where she lived in the same neighborhood for 91 years. She married Jess Chaney and was married for 64 years before his death. In her lifetime, Katherine saw the use of automobiles replace horse and wagon, her family was the first in the neighborhood to own a television. She voted for the first time in the 1980's. She wore her first t-shirt in 2008 and never drove a car.

Katherine, a homemaker, raised her family in the same neighborhood where she made a million batches of peanut butter cookies, mash potatoes and sweet tea. Katherine passed from this life on July 6, 2015 at the age of 98 in Owasso, Oklahoma.

Survivors include, son Carl and wife Phyllis of Henryetta; daughter, Joyce Highfill and husband Bill of Owasso, Oklahoma; niece Betty Smith and great niece Trudy Smith of Willard, Missouri; niece Lynn Prullage of Henryetta; three grandchildren, Paul Mason of Stillwater; Vicki Chaney of Gore and Penny Sadler and husband Jason of Glenpool; She also has three great-grandsons, Cash Bridges of Tahlequah, Cade Bridges of Coweta and Boone Sadler of Glenpool.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jess, four siblings, one child, Betty Lou Chaney and one granddaughter Cara Bridges and numerous family and friends.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Westlawn Cemetery with Rex Walcher, officiating. Services are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
