Lois Ruth (Baker) Thompson, a resident of the Salem community, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Tulsa at the age of 62. Lois was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on August 5, 1947 to Aaron Baker, Sr. and Juanita (Billy) Baker. She grew up and attended school in Battiest, OK and graduated from High School there. After high school Lois moved to Long Beach, California where she attended college at Long Beach City College while studying office administration. While in college she met the love of her life, Newman Thompson, Jr. They returned to Oklahoma in 1970, and were married in Okmulgee, OK on December 24, 1971. Lois worked at Anchor Glass Company for 32 years as a quality inspector until she retired in 2008. Lois is survived by her husband, Newman Thompson, Jr. of the home; a daughter, Dierdra Soap and husband, Kevin of Coweta a son, Steven Thompson of the home her father, Aaron Baker, Sr. of Battiest, OK 3 grandsons: Aaron Soap of the home, Emery Soap of Coweta, and Jarred White of Tulsa 2 grandaughters: Laurisa Soap of Coweta and Ashley Pigeon of Weleetka one great grandchild 3 brothers: Robert Baker and wife Dinh of Laverne, CA Aaron Baker, Jr. and wife Linda of Dearborn, MI and Ray Baker of Battiest, OK 2 sisters: Joyce Baker of Battiest, OK and Nita Harrison and husband Kenneth of Tulsa 2 Sisters-in-law: Etta Dickinson and Sarah Thompson, both of Tulsa 2 Brothers-in-law: Marshall Thompson & wife Nancy of Yuma, AZ Emmanuel Thompson of Eufaula, OK 2 uncles, Ed Billy of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Daniel Billy of Oklahoma City, 2 aunts, Agnes Baker of El Paso, Texas, and Rose Billy of Midwest City, Oklahoma She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita; 2 brothers, Harold Baker and Darrell Baker; 2 sisters-in-law; and 3 brothers-in-law. Pallbearers will be Jeff Thompson, Brian Wyatt, Corey Harjo, Richard Martinez, Ray Jackson, Aaron Soap, and Ruben Freeman Jr.. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Baker, Mark Baker, Russell Thompson Jr., Joe Bear Jr., Shaun Baker, and Cody Harjo. Graveside funeral services are set for Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Battiest Cemetery in Battiest, (McCurtain county) Oklahoma with Rev. Beri Gibson and Rev. Perry Martin officiating. Funeral arrangement have been entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Viewing and visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday, from 9am to 8pm. A wake service will be conducted on Sunday Evening at 7:00 pm at the family residence south of Henryetta.
