Marie Elizabeth Howard, a longtime resident of Schulter, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Henryetta at the age of 64. Marie was born on December 16, 1949 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Ray Calvin Ashley and Iva Lois Justus Ashley. Marie grew up in the Henryetta area, attending school with Henryetta Public Schools and Beggs Public Schools. Following her education, Marie worked as a cook in restaurants in Henryetta including The Patty Ann and Collett's Restaurant. She loved performing country gospel music and often performed during the Labor Day festivities in Henryetta. In keeping with her spirit of giving, she performed her music and played in countless benefits for many people throughout the years. Marie always helped others in need and she will be remembered for her kind and gentle service to others. Marie married Bill J. Howard in 1976 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They remained together for 38 years as the best of friends. Marie is preceded in death by both her mother and her father, Ray and Iva Ashley; and by a daughter, Sherri Annette Miller. She is survived by her husband, Bill Howard of the home in Schulter; 4 children, Patricia Dombek and husband Mike of Henryetta, Karen Thompson and husband Cody of Eufaula, Sharon Henderson and husband Johnny of Schulter, and Susan Ledford and husband Matthew of Beggs; by 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; a brother, Kenny Ashley and wife Trish of Eufaula; by Bill's sons, Billy Howard and wife Patty of Tulsa, Gary Howard of Tulsa, Bob Howard and wife Beverly of Tulsa, Dale Howard of Henryetta, Mike Howard and wife Tiffany of Henryetta, Mark Howard & wife Rachel of Tulsa, and Bryan Howard of Norman; Also by many other extended family and many good friends. Viewing will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Integrity Funeral Service from 5-8pm. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 2:00pm at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta with Rev. Gregg Joki officiating. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Henderson, Cody Thompson, Mike Dombek, Bob Howard, Bryan Howard, Mark Howard, Mike Howard, and Billy Howard.
