Marilyn Leigh Counterman, a life resident of the Henryetta Community, passed away Friday, December 27th, 2024 in Henryetta at the age of 85. She was born May 12, 1939 to Tony and Mamie (Hawkins) Klimek and was one of eight children.
Marilyn was a devout Christian and taught her children well about the Bible. Marilyn certainly let her light shine to others about Jesus. She was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church. She spent several years as a waitress at the Colonial Pancake House where she was loved by her co-workers and community alike. She married Howard Counterman August 16, 1974 at the Morris United Pentecostal Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Mamie Klimek, her first husband and father of her children Bill Benton, Sr., her second husband with whom she spent many happy years, Howard Counterman. A son, Billy Benton, Jr., two granddaughters, Christy Benton and Kelly Michelle Benton, four brothers, Neil, Kenneth, John and Paul Klimek, three sisters, Gladys Arnold, Maxine Holt, and Sylvia Shelton Keller.
She is survived by four children, Tammy Blake of Henryetta, Randy Benton and wife Vicky of Sapulpa, Pamela Rutledge and husband Jim of Cement, and Toni Null of Henryetta; Ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren with one more arriving this month, her loving companion of fourteen and a half years, Lewis Walters of Graham; A host of nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be 4-6pm, Wednesday, January 1st, 2024 at Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Benton, Josh Klimek, Quinton Dickey, Dillon Dickey, Trey Dickey and Derek Walters. Honorary Pallbearers will be Isaac Guynes, Dalton Null, Devin Null, and Michael Benton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2024 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
