Marshall Quintin "Rex" Buzan, a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home in Henryetta at the age of 80. Rex was born on August 15, 1932 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Marshall Nelson Buzan and Delma Viola Brown. Rex grew up in Henryetta, attended Henryetta Public Schools and graduated from Henryetta High School in 1951. He later attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where he studied engineering. Rex began his pipeline career in 1951and, over the years, he has worked for many different pipeline companies including Congus Pipeline Co., Bechtel Corporation, Anderson Brothers Pipeline Construction, O.R. Burden Pipeline Co., Sheehan Pipeline Construction, Grayco Pipeline Construction and Williams Brothers Pipeline. Rex has held many different positions in the pipeline industry including laborer, operator, Bending foreman, mechanic and Master Mechanic. He has worked on foreign jobs in both Venezuela and Canada and on the Trans-Alaskan pipeline. The last company Rex worked for was Great Plains Pipeline Construction, Inc. before retiring in January, 1993. Rex and Myrtle were honored to receive the Pipeliner and Lady Pipeliner distinction for the Month of December, 2012. One his his greatest joys is driving and working on his classic 1955 Chevy. Rex faithfully served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Rex was a member of the Masonic Talledega Lodge # 201, the Town and Country Christian Church in Okmulgee, the International Union of Operating Engineers where he served as business representative of Local Union #627 in Tulsa, the OSU Foundation, OSU Posse Club, and the Tulsa Classic Chevy Club. Rex was married to Myrtle Lou Lenox on June 4, 1960 in Henryetta. They remained married for 53 blessed years. From this union they were blessed with two children, Marshall Buzan, Jr. and wife Gaylene of Bartlesville and Lou Ann Buzan Orr and husband David of Broken Arrow, Rex has four grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Buzan of Bartlesville, and Kelli and Brittany Orr of Broken Arrow. Rex has 3 sisters, Marcelene Kirks and husband Ellis of League City, TX, Sue Hurt and husband Windy of McKinney, TX, and Norma Ferguson and husband Tim of Enid, OK; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends. The family will meet and greet friends at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 6 to 8pm. A funeral service for Rex will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Town and Country Christian Church in Okmulgee with Rev. Timothy Reeves officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Darrell Buzan, Mike Chancey, Eric Ferguson, Jeff Hermen, Quin Neal, and Jay Duhon. The family has designated the Town and Country Christian Church in Okmulgee or Grace Hospice of Tulsa, as appropriate for memorial contributions.
