Marvin Carroll Day Jr., a resident of Checotah, passed away in Tulsa on Monday, October 4, 2010 at the age of 59. Marvin was born on May 27, 2010 in Gary, Indiana to Marvin Carroll Day, Sr. and Sarah LaPrairie Day. Marvin grew up and attended school in Oklahoma and joined the U.S. Navy during his senior year. He served in the Navy for four years including service aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga near the end of the Viet Nam conflict. He lived in Dallas following his military service where he worked for several independent school districts in the Dallas area as a maintenance engineer. He moved back to Henryetta after living in Dallas and later settled in the Checotah community for the past 12 years. He is preceded in death by both his mother and father, a brother, Gary Day and a sister, Loretta Leonard. He is survived by five sisters, Ramona Saunders and husband Lloyd of Weleetka, Sheryl Day of Checotah, Lisa Burns and husband Jeff of Yellville, Arkansas, Paula Giles of Eufaula, and Bobbie & Scott Ludwig of Checotah; 2 brothers, Wesley Day and wife Ann of Dallas and Neil Day, also of Dallas; and by numerous nieces and nephews, and good friends. Following cremation, private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were made under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
