Marvin William Kirkland, a resident of Okmulgee, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home south of Okmulgee at the age of 85. He was born January 19, 1926 in Harrison, Arkansas to Homer Kirkland and Ada (Coots) Kirkland. Marvin married Gladys Kirkland on Monday, January 07, 1946 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was a member of the plumbers and pipefitters union local 430 for 50 years. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Gladys, grandson, Carlos Dewayne Brown, brother, Ike Kirkland, and by his son, Michael Kirkland. He is survived by his daughter Ladine Brown & husband Carlos of Henryetta, grandson, Ritchey Brown & wife Betty of Checotah, granddaughter, Marvet Johnson & husband Gary of Bixby, 4 great grandchildren, Crissy Brown, Ryan Brown, Tim Johnson, and Nick Johnson, and by one sister, Marie Bertrang of Tulsa. Pallbearers will be Ritchey Brown, Gary Johnson, Ryan Brown, Nick Johnson, Tim Johnson and Carlos Brown. Private Family Graveside Services were held at 4:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Okmulgee Cemetery in Okmulgee with Minister Bill Smith, officiating. Services are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
