Marvin Leroy Snyder, a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed from this life on Friday, November 18, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 68 after an extended illness. Leroy was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on January 31, 1948 to Thomas Snyder and Edna Mae Tucker.
Leroy grew up in Henryetta and attended Henryetta Public Schools, graduating from Henryetta High School with the class of 1966. After graduation, Leroy served in the Henryetta division of the United States National Guard. Leroy worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1998 with 30 years of service where he served as an area manager. During his career with the telephone company, Leroy lived in Stillwater, Ardmore, Muskogee, Hugo and Ada, Oklahoma where he was a member of the Rotary Club and Lions Club, among other civic groups. He was a longtime member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers Club. He loved to fish, hunt and spend time outdoors. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring old cars, golfing, cooking, refinishing furniture, raising bulldogs, and was an accomplished repairman. He loved fixing and repairing almost anything and was a great help to many in that regard. Leroy was married to the love of his life, Sheree Decker in Muskogee, Oklahoma on December 15, 1979. Leroy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and son and he will be deeply missed by the many people who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father; a step-father, Bert Renfro; a brother, Gene Snyder; a sister, Connie Cooper, a step-brother, Curtis Renfro, and a step-sister, Ellen Ann Stubbs.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Sheree Snyder of the home; 3 sons, Duane Snyder and wife Ashley of Dallas, Texas, and Rusty Snyder and wife Kathy of Henryetta, and Dusty Snyder of Tulsa; a daughter, Marla Matthews and husband Josh of Farmington, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, Chance Snyder, Kristin Snyder-Hargis and husband Kevin, Mallory Snyder, Drew Bain, Brett Bain, Morgan Matthews, and Caleb Matthews; two great grandchildren, Karter Hargis and Kooper Hargis; three sisters, Nelda Smith and husband Gene of Okemah, Pat Mosco and husband Bud of Henryetta, and Nancy Witt and husband Wayne of Claremore; father and mother-in-law, Ormand and Darlene Decker of Broken Bow; a brother-in-law, Monte Decker and wife Sherry of Owasso; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Viewing for Leroy will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Sunday, November 20 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday, November 21 from 8:00am until 8:00 pm with family present to greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service for Leroy will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00pm at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Terry Cossey officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Duane Snyder, Rusty Snyder, Dusty Snyder, Josh Matthews, Monte Decker, and Wayne Witt. Honorary bearers will be Bud Mosco and Gene Smith.
