Longtime Henryetta resident, Mary Florene Wailes began her day in Heaven at 7:50 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, at the age of 81. Mary was born January 10, 1930 in Lubbock, Texas to Charlie Elmer Speer and Mila (Anthony) Speer. Mary was a graduate of Dewar High School, class of 1948 and spent most of her life in the Dewar-Henryetta area. She married Gilbert L. Wailes, September 8, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mary loved to garden and all one would have to do was pass by and view her amazing hydrangeas to know she was good at gardening. With a passion for quilting, Mary was very active with her own quilting, but loved spending time quilting with her friends at Stitch-In-Time who she loved dearly. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert L. Wailes, a daughter, Dianna Marie Wailes, two brothers, Reasel Speer and Almon Speer. Also four sisters, Lela Buckner, Eathel Gable, Jean Orr and Alta Speer. Mary is survived by one son, William G. Wailes and wife Debra of Bartlesville, OK Two grandsons, Matthew Wailes of Bartlesville, OK Anthony Wailes of the home One sister, Maudie Harrington of Okmulgee Also by nieces, nephews, a host of friends and other relatives. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family, but we are assured Heaven is now a brighter place with her arrival. A Memorial Service for Mary is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2011 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Monty Baggett, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, Muskogee, officiating. Final arrangements are entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
