Maxie “Max” Gary Hammontree II, age 46, of Glenpool, OK, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 1, 2019. Max was born in Dallas, TX, on October 11, 1973 to Sandra and Maxie Hammontree. He graduated from Hanna School in 1992, OSUIT in 2000, and graduated with his bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix in 2002.
Max married the love of his life, Roxanne “Roxie” Elizabeth Farlow, on December 18, 1999 in Eureka Springs. Max worked as a special education teacher at Bixby Public Schools, and took great pride in working with his students and colleagues. Even though he couldn't have children of his own, he held a special place in his heart for little children. He also loved coffee, reading, history, watching basketball, and collecting and refinishing tools that he had purchased at garage sales.
Max is survived by his wife Roxanne; mother Sandy; brother Andrew Wade; brother Clint and sister-in-law De Ann; sister Andrea and brother-in-law Chad Spurlock; sister-in-law Amy Strunk; nieces Breanna Hammontree and Avery Spurlock; father in law and mother-in-law, Jim and Carol Farlow, nephews, Freeland and Casey Hammontree, Braxton Spurlock, and Sammy Strunk; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Maxie.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Henryetta Church of Christ , 413 W Broadway in Henryetta. Visitation on Tuesday, November 5 will be at Integrity Funeral Services in Henryetta from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
