Michel Dawn Porter

Michel Dawn Porter, a resident of Spiro, Oklahoma passed away, Friday, December 25th, 2020 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas at the age of 43. She was born April 24, 1977 in Ft. Polk, Louisiana to Curtis Roy Stewart, Jr. and Cass Ann (Pabitzky) Stewart.

She married Jeremy Porter November 27, 1999 at the United Pentecostal Church in Dewar.

Michel served as pastor's wife at Spiro United Pentecostal Church for the past 7 years. Michel graduated from North Eastern State University with a Bachelors degree and again from Bacone with a second Bachelor's degree. She worked for Creek Nation as a head start teacher and then administrator, before her husband and her accepted their pastoral position at Spiro.
She worked for several years at Kibois Community Action, with their head start programs in Poteau and Stigler, serving last as a center director. She also served for many years alongside her husband as youth leader in Checotah at New Life United Pentecostal Church. Michel loved her friends and church family, her German Shepherd and Mini Pin's, and many other pets throughout the years. And she loved her hometown of Spiro!
She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Roy Stewart, Jr. and Cass Ann Stewart. Also by her grandfather, Curtis Roy Stewart, Sr., also her grandmother-in-law, Alma Whitaker.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Jeremy Porter of the home in Spiro;
A daughter, Brionna Porter of Spiro;
A son, Brennen Porter of Spiro;
Her maternal grandmother, Lorene Stewart of Spiro;
A brother, Mark Stewart & wife Connie of Broken Arrow;
A sister, Misty Weatherford & husband Rickey of Broken Arrow;
Her in-laws, David & Janice Porter of Morris;
A sister-in-law, Jennifer Simmons & husband Logan of Morris;
Also by nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved church family.

Viewing for Michel will be from 5-8pm Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Integrity Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Weatherford, Mark Stewart, Scott Guthrie, Caleb Stewart, Logan Simmons, & Rev. James Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be, Brennen Porter, Bud Essex, David Porter & Shawn Howard.

The family has requested that all who attend Michel's service, please wear a mask.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4th, 2021 at United Pentecostal Church, 608 W. Ozark, Morris, Oklahoma. Rev. Matthew Martin & Rev. Derek Hanson will officiate. Interment will follow in Morris Cemetery with Rev. James Stewart officiating at the graveside. Service are under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
