Norman "Nip" Rogers, a resident of Henryetta, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78. He was born December 30, 1937 in Dewar, Oklahoma to James Leo Rogers & Nora Belle (Johnson) Rogers. He married Paulette Rogers April 25, 1966 and to this union two children were born, Norman and Shannon. He was a veteran serving with the United States Navy. Nip worked for Senator Ted Risenhover from 1976 until 1980. He was President of AFL-CIO Glass workers with PPG Industries until it closed. Nip then went to work at KELCO and worked until he retired in 1995. He was a life member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars, The American Legion where he worked with Boy's State for 16 years and with the Volunteers of America for 15 years. At present he was serving as Chairman of Okmulgee County Election Board and was very proud of his work in the Democratic Party. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge which he was very proud of. He was also a member of Dewar First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, James & Nora Rogers, three aunts and three uncles. Norman is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Paulette Rogers of the home, Two children, Shannon Hancock of Tulsa, and Norman Rogers of Hastings, Minnesota, Grandchildren, Kelsey Hancock & fiance Rusty Gray of Henryetta, Mackenzie Hancock of Tulsa, Cale Hancock of Henryetta, Jordan Rogers of Springfield, Missouri, and Trey Rogers of Hastings, Minnesota; Great grandchildren, Whitlee Gray of Henryetta; and Silas Hancock of Tulsa; As well as a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 3-8pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Cale Hancock, Trey Rogers, Chris Perkins, Keith Green, Kevin Green and Brandon Turley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Powders, Kenneth Butler, Dean Green, Robert Evans, Buddy Green, Charles Walker, Dennis Crosby, Ralph Thompson, John Macaluso, and Ronnie Bartolina. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance and Rev. Ryan Wells, officiating. Interment will follow at New Sonora Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
