Oleta (Saunders) Alston

Katie Oleta Alston, a resident of Henryetta passed to be with our LORD on April 30, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born august 4, 1925 to Emmett Saunders and Pearl (Parker) Saunders. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Pearl Saunders, her husband, Herman A. Alston, one son, Jimmie L. Alston, Sr., three brothers, Herman, Homer & Verdie Saunders.

Oleta worked for Hal Hefner's Drug Store for many years before owning and operating "Howard's Restaurant". She was raised in the Wilson area where she also attended school. She was a long time resident of Henryetta for most of her life. She lived in Sapulpa for many years before returning to Henryetta. Oleta was well known for her piano playing in churches. She will be greatly missed by family and loved ones. Oleta, "Go sing high upon the mountain top".

Oleta leaves behind a son, Verdel R. Alston of Henryetta, five grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be, Wendell Saunders, Steve Saunders, Mike Alston, Jody Key, Rusty Kellogg and Larry Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Alston, Jr., Johnny Saunders, Junior Saunders, & Joey Saunders.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Randall Christy and Sis. Judy Allen Wainwright officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
