Inez Kennedy, a longtime resident of the Wilson Community, passed away at home on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the age of 91. Inez was born on August 15, 1919 in Black Oak, Arkansas to Richard Rogers and Minnie Moore Rogers. At age 4, she moved to the community of Bristow, Oklahoma with her family. After two years in Bristow, the family moved to the Wilson area. Inez attended Wilson School and graduated from Wilson High School with the class of 1938. She married Johnnie Camp Kennedy in Henryetta on December 17, 1938. Inez was an accomplished homemaker and was famous for her culinary expertise, particularly so with the incredible pies that she made and with her chicken and noodles meals. She loved her pursuits with crafts of all types, and was an especially quilter. She was an active member of the Wilson Thimble Club of quilters. She was a longtime and staunch supporter of Wilson School and all its athletic teams. She is well remembered for her attention of the many children she walked to the bus stop as they came and went to Wilson School. She is preceded in death by both her mother and her father; her husband, Johnnie Kennedy; a sister, Clara Edwards, a son-in-law, Don Snow; and a brother. Inez is survived by her 2 sons Danny Kennedy and wife Valorie of Henryetta and Mike Kennedy and wife Anne Kennedy of Perry; 2 daughters, Terresa Snow of Pampa, Texas and Donna Vance and husband Jack Vance of Wilson; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grand children, 2 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Muriel Lane of Borger, Texas. Pallbearers will be Josh Kennedy, Billy Vance, Darrick Lehmkuhl, Joe Mulliniks, Gary Sparks and Justin Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Vance, Donny Snow, Brian David Vance, Travis Mulliniks, Dusty Mulliniks and Andrew Jones. Funeral services for Inez will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Interment will follow at Salt Creek Cemetery in the Wilson Community under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday from 5pm to 8:30pm, and on Monday, from 8am to 11:30am at Integrity Funeral Service. The family has designated the Building Fund at Dewar First Baptist Church as appropriate for memorial contributions.
