Philip D. Carter, 56, of Grapevine, Texas, passed away April 8, 2014 at Los Colinas, Texas. He was born November 13, 1957 in Henryetta, Oklahoma, the son of Richard and Erma Carter. Often referred to as "Quickdraw" or "Quick" for short, for his athletic ability, Phil graduated from Dewar High School Class of 1976 and attended both Seminole Junior College and East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, on baseball scholarships. He graduated from ECU with a Masters degree in Education. Phil was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time on the lake. His joy in life was doing things with and for his children. It also wasn't uncommon to see Phil with all the neighborhood kids, tubing behind his Sea Doo. Phil knew everyone in the neighborhood and everyone knew him. He was the kind of guy who would step up and take care of things that needed to be done for friends or family, without being asked and without expecting anything in return. He loved to cook and entertain. He held the title of Vice President of Ram Jack of Texas, where he had worked for 27 years. Phil leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janine Carter of Grapevine; his children, Ryan Carter of Irving, Austin Carter and Savannah Carter both of Grapevine; his parents, Richard and Erma Carter of Dewar, Oklahoma; brothers, Carroll Carter, Eric Carter, sister Alice McGowen all of Dewar and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, the Ram Jack family and many dear friends.
