Polly L. Gossage, a longtime resident of Dewar and Henryetta, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Henryetta at the age of 94. Polly was born on February 15, 1924 in Kusa, OK to James Londagin and Ellar (Hedrick) Londagin.
Polly grew up in the Henryetta area, attending school in Dewar. She later attended Oklahoma A&M where she earned her bachelors degree in education. Polly became an elementary educator and worked for many years in both Dewar Public Schools and later at Henryetta Public Schools before her retirement. Polly was married to the love of her life, George "Bill" Gossage on August 28, 1947 and they remained happily enjoined until his death.
Polly was a longtime member of the Baptist Church. She liked to cook and often shared her culinary delights, especially her pies, with her family and friends. Polly loved working in her gardens and maintaining her home which remained immaculate.
Polly was preceded in death by her father, James Londagin; her mother, Ellar Hedrick Londagin; her brother, Jimmy Lee Londagin; a sister, Ann Carson; and a brother-in-law, Bill Berry. She is survived by her four sisters, Mary Louise Berry of Henryetta, June Medlock of Inola, Pat Simmons of Inola, and Luella Sue Stinson of Hoover, Alabama; by numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing for Polly will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00pm at Integrity Funeral Service.
A funeral service is set for 2:00pm on Friday, June 29 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Rick Harrison officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.
Pallbearers will be Jim Willis, Gary Medlock, Matthew Willis, Larry Spurlock, Bobby Spurlock, and Jason Castleman. Honorary bearers will be Tony Stinson and Chris Stinson.
