Rachel Lou Vaughn

Rachel Lou Vaughn, a resident of Oklahoma City, OK and former resident of Henryetta, passed from this life on Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Oklahoma City at the age of 90. Rachel was born on September 25, 1925 in Dewar, Oklahoma to Gilbert Lewis and Martha Lee Russell Lewis. Rachel grew up in Henryetta and attended Henryetta Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1944. Following high school, Rachel went to work for the telephone company working as an operator and remained in that capacity for approximately four years. While working with the phone company Rachel met the love of her life, and she was married to Harold Buster Vaughn on September 3, 1948 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Methodist church while living in Henryetta. Rachel was an excellent seamstress, an accomplished cook, and an avid art collector. She later worked as a licensed Realtor/Broker for many years. But most of all, Rachel will be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister and she was deeply loved by many that knew her. Rachel is preceded in death by both her mother and father; a sister, Natella Lackey; two brothers, Chester Lewis and James Lewis; and a grandson, Anthony Landers. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Vaughn of the home in Oklahoma City; by two daughters, Lisa Hampton and husband Joe of Oklahoma City and Janet Langkop and husband Jim of Dallas, Texas; by five grandchildren, Luke Landers, Martin Hampton, Audrey Hampton, Joy Hampton, and Hope Hampton; by several cousins, other extended family and many good friends. Viewing for Rachel will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta from 10am until 8pm. A funeral service for Rachel will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10:00am at Stonefell Chapel, the former First Presbyterian Church location at 412 W. Division, in Henryetta with Rev. Mark W. Balthrop officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Langkop, Luke Landers, Joe Hampton, Martin Hampton, and Audrey Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Joy Hampton and Hope Hampton.
