Rex Watson

October 23, 1931 — March 29, 2024

Rex "Pudo" Watson, a beloved member of the Okmulgee community, passed away on Friday, March 29th, 2024, in Tulsa at the age of 92. Rex was born to Fannie and John Watson on October 23rd, 1931, in Bryant, Oklahoma.

Rex attended Yuchi Indian Mission Boarding School before joining the Army/AirCorp at the age of 16. He proudly served his country as a parachute rigger stationed in the Aleutian Islands and Washington, DC.

After returning from the military, Rex worked as a common laborer in the Henryetta area. He later met and married Linda Lowe, with whom he had two sons, Kevin and Julian. Rex attended OSU Tech in Okmulgee to become a certified diesel mechanic, which led him to work for Seismograph Services Corporation of Tulsa, which sent him overseas to Libya and South America. Later in life, he worked for Muscogee Creek Nation as a Community Health Representative.

Rex enjoyed visiting with family and was a proud veteran. He passed his love for listening to music on to his sons and enjoyed watching all sports. In his younger years, Rex played baseball in local leagues and enjoyed working on cars and going on road trips. He was also a member of Arbeka Indian Baptist Church and loved completing jigsaw puzzles.

Rex was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Watson; father, John Watson; brothers, Sidney Watson, Ray Watson, Bunny Carter, Albert Pace, and Virgil Sanders Sr.

He is survived by his sons; Kevin Watson (wife, Nancy Watson) of Glenpool, Julian Watson (wife, Randi Narcomey-Watson) of Jenks and the mother of his children, Linda Lowe of Dewar. Grandchildren: River Watson of Jenks, Maya Watson of Jenks, Katcv Watson of Glenpool, Mekko Watson of Tulsa, Ché Watson of Tulsa, Abela Watson of Jenks, Phoenix Watson of Jenks, Jasmine Gutierez of Tulsa. Great-grandchildren; Kendall and Kash Rivera of Jenks and Jayvyn Cato of Tulsa. Brother Benny Watson of California, sister Virgie Poe of Arkansas and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Wake service will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta, OK. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3rd, at Integrity Funeral Service, with Rev. David Dunson and Rev. Wallace Gambler officiating.

Following the funeral service, Rex will be interred at the Arbeka Indian Baptist Church Cemetery.

Katcv Watson, Mekko Watson, Ché Watson, Virgil "Bubba" Sanders Jr., Jody Carter, and Brian Sanders will be Pallbearers. Leon Watson, John Poe, and Phoenix Watson will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
