Richard Earl Ward

May 25, 1942 — January 6, 2024

Richard Earl Ward, 81, a resident of Claremore, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Born in Henryetta on May 25, 1942, to Flora Lee (Jones) and Felix Ward.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lilly Jeffrey, Alice Jones and Claude V. Ward

Richard attended Henryetta High School and afterward would enter the Army. His time in the Army instilled in him a strong sense of pride and patriotism which he carried throughout his life. Upon completion of his service, he returned to his roots in Henryetta where he embarked on a career with the City of Henryetta, showcasing his remarkable abilities as a welder.

Richard's penchant for creativity was most vividly expressed through his welding art. His dexterous hands crafted countless bespoke gifts, endearing him to family and friends. He had an innate talent for transforming metal into magnificent works of art with just his welding torch.

Apart from his artistic pursuits, Richard found joy in the simple pleasure of television. He was a fervent fan of *MASH*, tuning in for every episode. Westerns, too, had him hooked.

But beyond his interests and skills, Richard will be most fondly remembered for his generosity and kindness. Renowned for his readiness to assist anyone in need. In 2004, after suffering a stroke, Richard displayed his resilient character by transitioning to the Claremore Veterans Center, as his home.

He leaves behind a devoted sister, Flora Anglin and her husband Jim of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and a cherished assembly of nieces, nephews.

Richard was the epitome of creativity, kindness, and generosity. Those who knew him will forever cherish the legacy he leaves behind and will always remember his wit and sense of humor - an enduring reminder that a life well-lived is one adorned with acts of selflessness and an immense capacity for love.
