Robert Eugene Tamplen

Robert Eugene "Pete" Tamplen, a resident of Eufaula and former longtime Henryetta resident, passed from this life on Friday, August 30, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 68. Pete was born on February 23, 1945 in the Wilson Community near Henryetta to Joe "Doc" Tamplen and Cora Mannings Tamplen. Pete grew up in the Henryetta area. He loved to fish and was an avid hunter. Pete was employed for several years at Deckers of Henryetta, Jones Service of Tulsa, and worked for approximately four years with Henryetta Public Schools as a laborer. Pete was married to the love of his life, Nora Mae Ellis on September 18, 1967 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They remained happily married for approximately 46 years until his death. Pete is preceded in death by his mother and father; a granddaughter, Stephanie Tamplen; and two sisters, Dora Nucholls and Betty Lee Morris. He is survived by his wife Nora Tamplen of the home in Eufaula; by three sons, Robert Tamplen and wife Jennifer of Morris, Kenneth Tamplen of Lexington, OK, and Joe Tamplen of Eufaula; five grandchildren, Joseph Tamplen, Tiffany Tamplen, and Haley Tamplen all of Iowa, and April Tamplen and Annie Jo Tamplen of Checotah; by four brothers, Ralph Tamplen and wife Chris of Schulter, Billy "Cotton" Tamplen and wife Judy of Henryetta, Tommy Tamplen and wife Janice of Schulter, and Kenneth Tamplen of Schulter; by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many good friends. Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 9am until 8pm. A graveside funeral will be held at Bower Cemetery in Pittsburg County on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:00am with Rev. Harold Gene Gaches officiating. Interment will follow immediately under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Tamplen, Jimmy Gaches, Alfred Gaches, Billy Tamplen, Gary Tamplen, and Jerry Tamplen.
