Shurden Funeral Home 411 West Division Street Henryetta, OK 74437 (918) Fax (918) 652-4451 Ruby Jane Benson (Pigott), resident of Henryetta, passed away Sunday morning, November 4, 2012 at home at the age of 98. She was born February 26, 1914 in Wallace, West Virginia to Warren Ray and Mattie Pigott. After graduating high school, Ruby made it to the big city of Clarksburg where she first worked at Parson Sounders and then as a seamstress altering fur coats. She met and married Carl Lalieu Benson in Clarksburg. They lived in Pa and Indiana where the owned a restaurant and Ruby was an awesome cook and in later years she worked for the Holiday Inn and was famous for her cinnamon rolls. Ruby's hobbies were crocheting and knitting, and reading. Just last year, she made scarves for all of the residents of the rest home on the lake road and donated them for Christmas. She was a devoted Mother, wife and Grandmother and friend. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband Carl Lalieu"Swede"Benson and one sister Opal hurst. Ruby is survived by her three daughters, Karen Higginbotham & husband Leroy of Haskell, Oklahoma; Roberta Clinton & husband Tommy of Henryetta, and Carmel Barnard of Henryetta seven grandchildren, Warren Higginbotham & wife Kristina of Oklahoma City, Barrie Sue Higginbotham & husband Vincent Caferio of Wagoner, Eddie Joe Benton & wife Bridgette of Bixby, Todd Benton & wife Poppy of Glenpool, Dustin Benton of Henryetta, Jason Barnard & wife Heda of Henryetta, and Marni Major of Oolagah, thirteen great grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at Shurden Funeral Home. Grave side services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 7th, 2012 at Westlawn Cemetery with Warren Higginbotham, speaking. Services are under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.
