Shurden Funeral Home 411 West Division Street Henryetta, OK 74437 (918) 652-4461 Fax (918) 652-4451 Ruby Louise Tate, a longtime resident of Hanna, passed away in Muskogee on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the age of 82. Ruby was born on February 5, 1931 in Amorita, Oklahoma to Berton Sherman and Valinda Carrie Opal Hill Sherman. Ruby grew up and attended school in Amorita, Oklahoma and graduated from Amorita High School. She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Amorita. She later became a member of the Hanna Assembly Church. She was a member of that church for over 40 years and served as a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years at that church. She also played piano there as well. Ruby was married to the love of her life, Marvin Roy Tate on December 5, 1955 in Amorita. She loved to work in her garden, and enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes and playing board games. She is preceded in death by both her mother and father; her husband Marvin Roy Tate who died on December 8, 1981; a son, Marvin Roy Tate, Jr. and a grandson, David Tate. She is survived by daughter, Glennie Lambert and husband Jeff of Eufaula; daughter, Marilyn Miller and husband Mike of Eufaula; son, Burt Tate and wife Renee of Hanna; daughter, Mary Mangum and husband Robert of Eufaula; son, Richard Tate and wife Karen of Hanna; daughter, Lois Edwards and husband Jim of Hanna; daughter, Janet Upton and husband William Upton II of Eufaula; daughter, Cynthia Pearce and husband Steve of Dighton, Kansas; 31 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; as well as a loving church family and many good friends. Viewing will be held at Shurden Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9 from 5 to 8pm and Friday from 8am and 8pm. Funeral Services for Ruby will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 10:00am at Hanna Assembly Church with Rev. Dale Watkins. Interment will follow immediately at Hanna Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be James McGuire, Brandon Hampton, B.J. Tate, Jeff Beshear, Marvin Tate, and Scott Tate. Honorary pallbearers will be William Upton, Raymond Pierce, Terry Upton, Michael Tate.
