Russell "Rusty" Boyd Howell

Russell "Rusty" Boyd Howell, a resident of Dewar, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, January 15, 2017 in Dewar at the age of 51. Rusty was born on December 13, 1965 in Okemah, Oklahoma to William Boyd Howell and Judith Fraser.

Rusty grew up in the Wilson community and spent several years living in Muskogee as well. Following his education, Rusty joined the U.S. Army where he served for approximately two years. Later, Rusty attended college for two years at OSU Tech in Okmulgee where he studied marketing and management and heat and air. Rusty spent most of his adult life serving in a variety of management roles in convenience store operations. He worked as a district manager for Git N Go and for Pantry in the state of Florida. His love for this type of work was evident locally, as Rusty spent approximately 10 years in management with Love's Country Store operations in Henryetta, Ardmore, and Guthrie. Rusty loved to fish and ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an accomplished mechanic and was often found working on automobiles and trucks for friends and family. Rusty was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and spent countless hours over a 5 year span sharing his love of the game with Henryetta PeeWee football teams which he coached. But most of all, Rusty loved his family. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather and he will be missed by the many people he served through his work, and that he touched with his gentle kindness.

Rusty is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Virgil and Viola Howell and by his maternal grandparents, Elton and Jean Fraser.

He is survived by his three daughters, Whitney McLeland and husband Brian of Henryetta, Katie Hurst and husband Buddy of Okmulgee, and Courtney Howell of Inola; three sons, Kyle Henry of Muskogee, William Cody Howell of Dewar, and Brandon Howell and wife Emily of Tulsa; by five grandchildren, Waylon McLeland, Bryton Howell, Allison Howell, Gunner Howell, and Carnynn McLeland; mother, Judith Henson and husband David of Henryetta; a father, William Boyd Howell and wife Martha of Okmulgee; two brothers, Bobby Howell and wife Cindi of Morris and Shawn Howell of Wilson; two sisters, Holly Pritchard and husband Kevin of Morris and Heather Henson-Longan of Morris; two step-brothers, Johnny Page and wife Jessica of Ft. Gibson and Will Page and wife Brynn of Ft. Gibson; by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family; as well as many good friends.

Viewing for Rusty will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Integrity Funeral Service from 1:00pm until 8:00pm.

A funeral service for Rusty will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Dewar with Rev. Ryan Wells officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Howell, bobby Howell, Cody Howell, Brandon Howell, Brian McLeland, Dylan Howell, and Matt Howell. Honorary bearers will be Buddy Hurst and Zac Dickey.
