Russell Vernon Hutton

Russell Vernon Hutton 1916-2012 Russell Vernon Hutton was born on July 13, 1916, in the Creek Mine coal camp near Henryetta, Oklahoma to John Peery Hutton and Minnie Nell Wilson Hutton. He died on June 19, 2012 in Edmond, Oklahoma at 95 years of age. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Gene (Betty) Hutton, Edmond, a daughter, Marilyn Kesler, Lawton, a son, Richard Hutton and wife Marcia Matthews Hutton, Edmond, and a son, Robert E. Hutton and wife Martha Womble Hutton, Tulsa. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Beth Wright and husband Kip Wright, Paul Kesler and wife Kathy Kesler, Lauren Currans and husband Tony Currans, Anne Fields and husband Jeff Fields, and Brig Hutton. He is survived by three great-grandchildren, Ella Browning Currans, Silas Martin Currans and Robert Allen Kesler. He is also survived by his loving and caring daughter-in-law Gail Woodliff Foster, Edmond, and his brother, John Browning Hutton, San Jose, CA, and his niece, Clara Lee Winders, and husband, Kenneth Winders, Midwest City. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Casey. Mr. Hutton was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Because of his medical specialty, he was assigned to the U.S. Marines as a corpsman for two and a half years, seeing duty in the South Pacific Theater with the 2nd Division, U.S. Marine Corp, and participating in combat on the islands of Guadalcanal, Saipan, Tinian and Tarawa. Following his military service, Mr. Hutton returned to Henryetta where he worked for Pittsburg Plate Glass Company as an accountant for 30 years. Upon his retirement, he worked at Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee as a counselor for 7 years. He, along with his wife, was an active member of the Henryetta First United Methodist Church for many years, serving in various leadership roles. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as an assistant scoutmaster for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 85 in Henryetta. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Henryetta, 1212 Lake Road, Henryetta, OK 74437 or the Boy Scout Troop of your choice. The family will greet friends at Integrity Funeral Service from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday, June 21, 2012. A Memorial Service will he held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Henryetta with Rev. Dale Durnell officiating. Interment will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
