Ruth LaVerne (Pug) Mussa Dykes, a resident of Schulter, passed away Wednesday, August 08, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 79. She was born March 11, 1933 in Schulter, OK to Joseph F. Mussa Sr & Bonnie (Cummings) Mussa. On March 2, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart, David Dykes Sr. in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Schulter Baptist Church. She worked as the Residence Social Director at Bono Nursing Home from 1992 to present, after 25 years at PPG and Terry George Law Firm. She is survived by one son, David Jr. and his wife Vicki of Schulter, and one daughter, LeAnn Dykes of Tulsa; Seven granddaughters and five grandsons also survive her: Farra Dykes, Miranda Dykes, Taryn Dykes, Hannah Dykes, Mary Kate Dykes, Kendale Fowler, Taylor Boolin, Caleb Stika, Hayden Stika, Cayson Stika, Ryan Fowler, and Hunter Mericle. Ruth is survived by her sister Debbie Mericle of Schulter; sisters in law, Gay Mussa of Broken Arrow, Martha Rausin of Mesquite, TX and Mary Warnock of Sapulpa, OK and brothers-in-law, Leon Grace and Donal Dykes of Owasso, OK as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband David Dykes Sr. on 7/15/2012, her parents, one sister, Margaret Mussa Grace, and two brothers, Robert Mussa, and Joseph F. Mussa Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Schulter Alumni Scholarship Fund at P.O. Box 333 Schulter, Oklahoma 74460. Family will greet friends from 4-6 pm on Friday evening at Integrity Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Matthew Miracle, Greg Stika, Caleb Stika, Chance Hunt, Ryan Fowler, Ty Walker, and Joey Fitzgerald. Honorary Pallbearers will be Henry Lee Bezinque, Glenn Harggett, Leon Grace, Donnie Dykes, and Cleo Miller. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Schulter Baptist Church. Brother Phil Barton will conduct the service. Burial will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
