On Saturday, September 28th Sherry Lynn Gouge, 54, a resident of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, was called home to be with ancestors. Sherry was born in the major metropolis of Wetumka Oklahoma on September 24th 1970 to the lovely and incomparable Flora Mae Davis.
Sherry, as a young child loved roller skating, being outdoors, time with her dog Smokey and frog fights with all the neighborhood kids. Sherry and Flora went on to settle in Sapulpa where Sherry attended and graduated from Sapulpa High School, Go Chieftains!! She went on to attend OBU where she would meet her new sisters for life The king Gals (to many prank stories to tell here) she went on to attend and graduate from Oklahoma Wesleyan college and was a graduate from the first nursing program the school had to offer. During her career she had worked for St. Francis Hospital, and IHS. In 2000 she would meet a man who she would eventually bind her life with and create a family with, her husband Mario Gouge. In 2001 Sherry made a bold decision to return to school and obtain her BSN of Nursing from, yep, you guessed it, Oklahoma Wesleyan University. In 2005 she moved to Dallas. She started working for Allied Home Health, before moving on to United Health Care. In 2008 8 YEARS LATER!! (She made me wait lol) She joined her life to husband Mario Gouge and just two years after this union they produced a very strong and loving child Jayden Marcello Gouge. While a joyous moment for most, was scary for us. Childbirth was hard on her and Jayden spent months in NICU. Inside both Sherry and her son, beat the hearts of fighters and both were able to come home. During the ensuing 16 years, marriage was filled with ups and downs and smiles and frowns, but we always seemed to rebound. Many adventures, Many laughs and lots of love, even purchasing they first home in Garland Texas in 2019. During these times in Dallas both Mario and Sherry felt something in life was missing, something we felt inside. We returned to Oklahoma going straight to where we knew we left a big piece of our hearts, Peach Ground, our Native Home Our ceremonial grounds where our hearts were and are. Our son immediately took to the grounds as well, eventually learning how to lead. Sherry's mother Flora and my aunt Betsy were Peach Ground originals and we knew this is where we belonged and a plan was hatched to return home. So, dedicated to this they sold their home in Dallas and moved back home to Okmulgee Oklahoma in 2024. We made it home, however, our time together home became very short.
Sherry Gouge is survived by husband Mario Gouge her wonderful son Jayden Gouge, step daughter Carmen Gouge.
