Simon Henry Mitchell

Simon Mitchell, a resident of Wetumka, Oklahoma, passed away March 4, 2025, in Okemah, Oklahoma at the age of 82. Simon was born May 10, 1942, in Hanna, Oklahoma to Sam Mitchell and Eliza Gouge Mitchell,

Simon lost his mother at a young age and was sent to Jones Academy, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. After completing his 9th grade at Jones Academy he transferred to Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas and graduated in 1963. In 1963 he got married and moved to Dallas, Texas and began working for Texas Instruments. Simon eventually moved back to Oklahoma City, OK, and was employed by General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 2008 as a Quality Control Inspector.

Simon loved playing golf and he enjoyed hosting his 4th of July golf tournament in Midwest City. He also enjoyed watching sports and organizing and hosting his annual family reunion. Additionally, Simon was a member, and once held a board member position to the Haskell Oklahoma Chapter Alumni Association and helped raise funds for Haskell Scholarships.

Simon is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Frankie Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell and Ray Mitchell.

He is survived by daughter Sheila Branch and two grandchildren; son Danny Mitchell, all of Oklahoma City, OK. Nephews James Mitchell of Cromwell, OK and Christopher Mitchell of Ponca City, OK; adopted brothers Tom Warrior of Stroud, OK and John Factor of Oklahoma City, OK as well as numerous relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and a wake service is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Integrity Funeral Service.

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Integrity Funeral Service with Rev. Mitchell Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, OK.

Pallbearers are Jeff Smith, Vernon Wolf, Mike Dunson, Butch Powell, Charles Harley and Leonard Gouge. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Mitchell, Merle Berryhill, James Jennings, Larry Cole, Thomas Yahola, Randy Fixico, Scott May, Levi Vanzant and Bob King.
