Sondra Kaye Hamm

Sondra Kaye Hamm, a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed from this life on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Henryetta at the age of 72. Sondra Kaye was born on January 1, 1944 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Samuel Lewis and Dimple Loyd Lewis. Sondra Kaye grew up in Henryetta, attending St. Michaels School and Henryetta Public Schools. Following high school Sondra Kaye began her lifetime of experiences including job positions as a waitress, as a clerk in a hat store and a glove store, for a manufacturer of bomb parts, and as a flag car driver. Sondra married the love of her life, David Hamm Sr., on February 13, 1960. David was a long haul trucker and Sondra often drove a flag car in advance of his truck. She viewed the position as the blessing of a lifetime as she could "see the world on her paid vacation". Throughout her life, Sondra Kaye battled many health concerns. But it was her faith in God which was always her focus, which made her walk with the Lord a daily testimonial to God's love and grace. Sondra Kaye was a loving, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved deeply by her family, and will be remembered as an exceptional mother and homemaker. Sondra Kaye was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, David Hamm Sr.; her son, Sam Hamm; her sister, Linda Williams; and her brother-in-law, Joe Lee. She is survived by her son, David Hamm, Jr. and wife Anita of Palestine, TX; a daughter-in-law, Sissy Story and husband Rocky of Henryetta; grandchildren, Miracle Story of Henryetta, Brian Hamm and fiancee Casey Cummings of Henryetta, Amanda Hamm & fiancee Randy Rowan of Henryetta; Andrea Ivins of Palestine, TX, Amber Bernauer of Indiana, and Kaitlin Gehrung of Spring, TX; great granddaughters, Lilli Rowan of Henryetta; Rylee Ivins of Palestine, TX; and Ariel Bernauer of Indiana; a sister, Becky Lee of Henryetta; a loving church family and many good friends. Kaye was a longtime member of the Tulledega Hills Baptist Church of Henryetta. Viewing for Sondra Kaye will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Integrity Funeral Service from 4pm until 8pm. A funeral service for Sondra Kaye will be held on Tuesday, Aptril 12, 2016 at 2:00pm at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Dale Huckabay officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. The family wishes to extend a special "Thank you" to Crystal Springs Retirement Center for their exemplary care and love.
