Stephen Ellis, a resident of Henryetta, passed away February 07, 2020 in Henryetta, OK at the age of 68. He was born Friday, July 13, 1951 in Henryetta, OK to Atlis Theon Ellis & Yvonne (Frew) Ellis.
Stephen attended high school in Henryetta, OK. While in school he participated in athletics, discovered a love of playing music, and made many life-long friends. He graduated with the class of 1969. Stephen attended college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in 1973. He had a 20 year career in aviation technology at Flight Safety International. His work assembling and installing flight simulators sent him to many locations across the country and internationally to Canada and Japan.
Stephen greatly enjoyed spending time on or near the water boating, fishing, and, in his younger years, lifeguarding. He had a lifelong love of boating on area lakes and restored and maintained several boats.
Stephen and his brother Allan shared a love of music. For many years they, along with several friends, would get together at least once a week for a jam session where Stephen would play the guitar or sing.
Stephen was an avid watcher of Jeopardy and would likely have been a champion contestant. He had a sharp sense of humor and was always ready with a witty comeback or quick joke. He loved history and was a collector of unique and interesting vintage items. Photography was also a hobby of Stephen's and he took countless photos of friends, family, and nature.
He is preceded in death by twin sons, Jonathan Frew Ellis and William Davis Ellis; his parents, Yvonne (Frew) and Atlis Theon Ellis; and two siblings, Elizabeth Ashlock and Allan Theon Ellis.
He is survived by one daughter, Monique Thomas & husband Rob of Owasso, OK; two grandchildren, Avery Thomas and Benjamin Thomas of Owasso, OK; and his niece, Aimee Hoffmann & husband Mike of Broken Arrow, OK, and niece Amanda Cowan of Wagoner, OK; Grandniece Rachel Elizabeth Hoffmann of Broken Arrow, OK, and aunt Carolyn Livesay of Grove City, OH, as well as a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Integrity Chapel. Internment of both Stephen and Allan’s ashes will take place at Westlawn Cemetery.
