Tony Martin, Jr., left this world to join his Heavenly Father on June 16, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Even through this illness Tony did his best to remain in good spirits. He was a caring, good man with a warm heart. Tony was born on February 27, 1953 to Rebecca Stroud and Tony Martin, Sr. He is preceded in death by his mother Rebecca Stroud and a brother, Allen Yargee. Tony married Sherry Berryhill on October 12, 1993 and was a father to step children Brian Lee and Tonya Lynn. He graduated from Wilson High School and attended college at Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee. Tony worked for the Okemah Smoke Shop as a manager for three years and Great Plains Coca Cola as a warehouse technician for fifteen years, Shaw Fabricating in Tulsa for four years, and Baptist Village in Okmulgee as a maintenance worker for two years. Tony was a dependable, hard worker. He was a member of Thlopthlocco Indian Methodist Church and also attended Honey Creek Indian Methodist. He loved the traditional Creek Hymns and was proud of his heritage and tradition. Tony's interests were hunting, fishing, landscaping, gardening, painting and art. He loved being outdoors and just enjoying nature. What Tony loved most was being a grandpa and great grandpa to grandchildren Ashley Dawn, Felicia Nicole, Andi Sue, Samuel, Spencer and Bill, his great grandchildren, Ashton, Jaxton, Peyton and Sebastian. Tony is survived by his wife, Sherry of the home, by two children, Brian Gourd and Tonya Guinn, a brother, Gary Rodgers & wife Debbie and sister in law Jamie Yargee and a host of nephews, nieces, family & friends. Viewing for Tony will be on Sunday from 6-8 pm, and Monday 8am until 4pm. Tony will be taken to Thlopthlocco Indian Methodist Church on Monday at 4pm for wake services at 7pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21st at Thlopthlocco Indian Methodist Church in Okemah. Interment will follow at Thlopthlocco Indian Methodist Church Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
