Viola Fern Carl, a former longtime Henryetta area resident, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Collinsville, Oklahoma at the age of 88. Viola was born on April 23, 1926 in rural McIntosh County to George Washington Clayton and Cloe Bell Brison Clayton. Viola grew up in the Hanna area and attended school there. Although she moved to Arizona briefly, she returned to Oklahoma and later lived in Sapulpa for approximately 20 years. Viola returned to Henryetta in 1982 and began working as a nurse's aide at Fountainview Nursing Home where she was employed for approximately ten years. Viola attended the Pentecostal Church in Henryetta. She is preceded in death by both her mother and father; her brother Fred Clayton; a son, Leroy Rose; a daughter, Vergie Anderson; a daughter, Donna Midkiff; and sons, Butch Rose and Buddy Rose. Viola is survived by three daughters, Carol Powell of Eufaula, Brenda Gilliland of Chouteau, and Linda Davis and husband Fred of Prague; by two sons, Jerry Rose of Okmulgee and Steve Nix of Tulsa; a brother, Dell Clayton of Eufaula; three sisters, Tretha Warner of Henryetta, and Loraine Gregg of Phoeniz AZ, and Freda Smith and husband Charles of Hanna; 24 Grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 19 great great grandchildren; as well as a host of many other extended family and many good friends. Viewing and visitation will be held for Viola on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Integrity Funeral Service from 9am until noon. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00pm at Dustin Cemetery in Dustin, Oklahoma with Rev. Albert Powell officiating. Services are under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Bryan Haley, Jerry Rose, Jacob Rose, Lee Rose, Keith Couch, and Charles D. Smith.
