Virgil Jackson

Virgil Jackson, a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Henryetta at the age of 86. Virgil was born to Tom & Myrta (Brachert) Jackson July 5, 1925 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He married Mabel Rhoades December 18, 1947 in Wilson, Oklahoma and to this union four children were born. A loving father and avid fisherman, Virgil served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of WWII. Virgil worked in glass manufacturing, he served in a variety of capacities for PPG Industries and Anchor Glass Company. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ serving as Elder & Deacon. He is preceded in death by his wife Mabel Jackson, August 8, 2008, his parents, a daughter Betty Jane Jackson, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by three daughters, JoAnne Carnes & husband Gary of Okmulgee Peggy Stephenson & husband Paul of Witchita, Kansas Marilyn Arnold of Henryetta Five grandchildren, Amanda Jane Fetgatter of Phoenix, Arizona Shane Carnes of Okmulgee Kevin Carnes of Okmulgee Stacy Carter & husband Justin of Oklahoma City Kyle Powell of Henryetta Four great-grandchildren, Luke & Lyla Carter of Oklahoma City Keaton Carnes of Okmulgee Laxi Carnes of Flagstaff, Arizona Two sisters, Virginia Ferris of Houston, Texas Sadie Williams of Sacramento, California Brother-in-law & Sister-in-law, Ray & Virginia West of Henryetta Sister-in-law, Ruth Baker of Oklahoma City As well as a host of friends and other relatives Pallbearers will be Frank Porter, Jack Keller, Bob Herring, Jim Herring, Everett Prevett, & Earl Freeman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray West, Steve Makibbin, & Clyde Estes. The family requests memorials to the Church of Christ Food Pantry. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Church of Christ, 5th & Broadway, Henryetta, Oklahoma with Rex Walcher, officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
