Virginia Lou Crawford, age 89, passed on to be with the Lord on December 19, 2021, after a short-term battle with cancer. She was born Virginia Lou Scagno on January 27th, 1932, in Henryetta, Oklahoma to parents Felix and Lucy Scagno. She graduated from Saint Michael's Catholic High school in 1949 as Class Valedictorian. It was at Saint Michael's she met and fell in love with her sweetheart and loving husband Frank who she married in 1952 and spent a wonderful and blessed life with him for nearly 60 years until his passing in 2011. In 2012, she moved to Grace Pointe Independent Retirement Village in Moore, Oklahoma to be surrounded by many new friends and to cared for by her family.
She is survived by her three sons, Mike, Dan and Frank, and their wives, Debbie, Patty and Cindy, as well as her four grandchildren Derek, Madison, Luci, and Blake, and her five great grandchildren, Brody, Max, Brenley, Ellie, and Nora.
After high school graduation, she worked for the Ben Hur Coal Company until the mines were closed in the 1950's at which time she stayed home to raise her sons. That was until she later joined her husband Frank in his stock brokerage business to work as his secretary for 17 years until their retirement, even often giving the daily stock report on KHEN radio. She was a frequent volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank in Henryetta, was active in her church and served as a long-time member of the Saint Michael's Altar Society.
Virginia will forever be remembered as a beautiful and bubbly lady by her family and countless friends who were blessed enough to know her. She was a loving full-blood Italian mother and fabulous cook who took great pride in her three sons and in her entire extended family. She loved to tell stories and make people laugh. She stayed in remarkedly good health her entire life and will be remembered by many in her hometown of Henryetta as The Walking Lady, who upon retirement relentlessly walked around town for her exercise.
