Virginia Faye Mcgowin

Virginia Faye McGowin, a longtime resident of Dewar was born February 2, 1932 in Schulter, Oklahoma to William Henry Stidman & Nettie Bell (Crawford) Stidman. She passed from this life March 3, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 84. She married Arvin Lee McGowin, Sr. March 24, 1951. Our Mom was a member of the Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Henryetta which she enjoyed. If you knew her, you knew her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, William & Nettie Stidman, husband Arvin McGowin, two daughters, Sally Pollard & Cathy Strong, grandson Arvin Lee McGowin II, and great-grandson, Token Edward Spears. Also by seven sisters, Wanda Hill, Margaret Hammer, Betty Lynch, Willene Mahan, Dawni Stidman, Doris Counterman, Ann Crow, & Patsy Nuckolls. Also by three brothers, Loyd Stidman, Leroy Stidman, & Troy Stidman. She is survived by her children, Vickie Szarwinski of Dewar; Arvin McGowin & wife Faye of Dewar; Gary McGowin & wife Ann of Dewar; Johnnie McGowin of Dewar; Jimmie McGowin & wife Renee of Bryant; Ronnie McGowin & wife Christy of Dewar; Dana Wells & husband Carl of Dewar; Twenty-two grandchildren & thirty-nine great grandchildren; One sister, Susie Short & husband Darrell of Dallas, Texas; One brother, Bobby Stidman & wife Debbie of Kusa; Two brothers-in-law, Pete Mahan of Schulter; Rick Crow of Pharoah; Two sisters-in-law, Mary Stidman of Henryetta; Ruthie McGowin of Tahlequah; Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Pallbearers will be, T. J. Pollard, Charles Placker, Jason Williamson, Gary H. McGowin, Chad McGowin, & Zachary Russell. Viewing will be on Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 - 8 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2016 at Dewar First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Salt Creek Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
