Wanda King

Wanda (West) KIng, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed from this life on Monday, September 18, 2017 in Okmulgee at the age of 81. Wanda was born on October 24, 1935 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Robert West and Louise Kelly West.

Wanda grew up in Hanna and attended Hanna Public Schools. Following her education Wanda met the love of her life, Wilson King Sr. They moved to Arizona and began their family where they lived for approximately 12 years, before moving back to Oklahoma. Wanda and Wilson remained happily married for 64 years prior to her death. Wanda was a lifetime member of Hutchechuppa Indian Baptist Church. She loved to sew, work crossword puzzles, and go to garage sales with friends and family. Of her many accomplishments, perhaps her most fulfilling was to help in raising and providing for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wanda was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by the many who knew and loved her.

Wanda is preceded in death by her mother and father; two brothers, Bill West and Barney West; a sister, Lillian West; a grandson, Anthony Thomas; a niece, Renita West; and a nephew, Howard West.

She is survived by her husband, Wilson King, Sr of the home; 9 children, Linda Bemore of the home, Wilson King Jr and wife Karen of Okmulgee, JoAnn Harjo and Steve Wind of Okmulgee, Dewayna King of Morris, Bobby King of the home, Allen King of the home, Jimmy King and wife Dana of Weleetka, Christine King of Okmulgee, and Lisa Sands & husband Clifford of Okemah; and four sisters, Esther West of Weleetka, Mary Harjo of Weleetka, Sally Scott of Weleetka, and Ann Parton of Muskogee; by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a host of other extended family and many good friends.

Viewing for Wanda will be held from noon to 4:00pm on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.

A wake service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday at Hutchechuppa Indian Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Hutchechuppa Indian Baptist Church with Rev. John Tulsa officiating, assisted by Rev. Scott Harjo. Interment will follow immediately at Hutchechuppa Church Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Crawford, Travis King, Matthew King, Clifton Sands, Trenton Barnoski, and Corey King. Honorary bearers will be Scott King, Merle Keesee, Rodney James, Clifford Sands, and all great grandsons of Wanda King.
