Wiley Hatkee Ryal, a resident of Henryetta passed away Wednesday, August 18th, 2021 in Tulsa at the age of 80. He was born February 1st, 1941 in Tahlequah to Willie Ryal and Ruth (Harris) Ryal.
Wiley married Barbara Goodman August 31st, 1959 in Dewar. He was a well known teacher and coach throughout Oklahoma. He started the football program at Midway School in Freeman, Missouri where he was teaching at the time. He also started the football program at Inola Public Schools. He taught many students History and Drivers Education at Dewar Public Schools where he also coached. The baseball field at Dewar Schools is named in his honor, The Wiley Ryal Field. He also taught for a time at Wynnewood and Henryetta. Not only was he a teacher and coach but a mentor to many of his students. He was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a great grandson, Tripp Whitlow.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Barbara Ryal of the home;
One son, Mark Ryal & wife Renae of Dewar;
One daughter Karen Milam & husband Scott of Dewar;
Five grandchildren, Rusty Ryal & wife Erica, Kacie Ryal & Nick Whitlow, Karlie Ryal, Ryan Milam & wife Tanya, Alicia Williams & husband Jared;
Seven great grandsons, Asher, Bowen, Rocco, Silas, Hudson, Boston & Maverick;
Two brothers, Woxie Ryal & wife Janice of Oklahoma City;
Doug Ryal of Skiatook;
Sis-in-law, Mary Adams of Kansas;
As a host of friends and other relatives.
Viewing will be from 3 - 8pm, Sunday, August 22nd at Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Barkley, Larry Grigg, Tim Fowler, Dusty Delso, Todd Been, and Brad Reddick. Honorary pallbearer, Troy Aikman.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, August 23rd, 2021 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Wells, officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service
In lieu of flowers a Wiley Ryal Scholarship Foundation has been set up for those that wish to contribute.
