William F. "Bill" Dill Jr, a longtime resident of Henryetta, passed from this life on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma at the age of 95. Bill was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma on September 9, 1921 to William F Dill Sr and Bell Era Cox. Bill grew up in Henryetta, attending Henryetta Public Schools before joining the U.S. Army. Bill entered into military service in 1942 and was a combat veteran having served in the Army Air Corps during the duration of his service. He was honorably discharged four years later in 1946 as a veteran of World War II.
Forever honored and proud of his military service, Bill was a longtime member of the American Legion in Henryetta as well as a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Following his military service, Bill returned home to Henryetta where he worked as a machinist for Pittsburg Plate Glass. He later retired from PPG, having worked there most of his adult life. Bill loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed woodworking. Bill married the love of his life, June Cheeseman in 1940 in Henryetta. They remained happily married for 67 years until June's death in 2007. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother, and son and he will be missed by the many who knew and loved him.
Bill is preceded in death by both his mother and father; and a sister, Dorothy Grady.
Bill is survived by his three sons, William D Dill of Spring, TX, Gary Dill of Bartlesville, OK, and Dennis Dill of Oklahoma City, OK; a daughter, Kathy Bales of Tulsa; a sister, Betty Robinson of Henryetta; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing will be held at Integrity Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 10:00am until 8:00pm.
A funeral for Bill will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 2:00pm at Integrity Chapel in Henryetta with Rev.Robert Bray officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army.
