William Joseph (Joe) Lane, a resident of Henryetta was born April 2, 1949 in Brownsville, Texas to Van Earl Lane and Reba Mae (Young) Lane. He joined tow older brothers, Leroy and Robert. The family then moved to San Antonio for a short time and then to Albuquerque where he spent most of his school years. Upon his father's death in 1966, Joe and his mother moved to Okmulgee to be near his aunt.
He attended Okmulgee High School for his senior year. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Navy and did two tours of duty in VietNam. He was injured during his second tour while running river boats. Upon discharge, he went back to Okmulgee and took auto mechanics at Okmulgee Tech. He then met Connie Hamilton through a mutual friend and they were married May 26, 1973 and just celebrated fifty years of marriage in May. During their marriage, they lived in Okmulgee, Tulsa, Wilson and mainly in Henryetta.
In his spare time he loved coaching little league baseball and peewee football. He also helped in March of Dimes fund drives.
In 1981 they adopted their first child, Christopher who was three years old. In 1982 they added John who was seven. Two years later they added Jenny who was four years old. During the kid's school years, they lived at Wilson. In 2003 they moved back to Henryetta.
Joe worked at Midland Glass/Anchor Glass for thirty-five years until he retired in 2010 due to Parkinson's disease. Then in the last two years he battled melanoma, which took his life on March 5th.
During his life, his favorite things were his family, fishing and his Mustang and car shows. He also enjoyed traveling with his family.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, both brothers and a nephew, Jeremy Hamilton and his in-laws, Jenks and Betty Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife Connie of the home in Henryetta;

Christopher Lane of Henryetta;
Jenny Lane of Norman;
Three grandchildren, Stefan Lane of Henryetta;
Augusta Wilkerson of Tulsa;
Emery Conley of Norman;
Also by a host of friends and other relatives.
Viewing for Joe will be 3 - 8 pm, Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8th, 2024 at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Dale Huckabay officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
