Willis Earl Robinson, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Monday, January 09, 2017 in Sapulpa, OK at the age of 92. He was born December 15, 1924 in Coalgate, OK to Ludel Robinson & Viola Mae (Davis) Robinson.
Willis proudly served the United States during World War II with the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles” Division in the US ARMY, serving in four (4) major battle campaigns in the European Theater: D-Day, Holland, France, and “Battle of the Bulge“ in Luxemburg/Belgium and on into Germany; receiving a Purple Heart, Five Bronze Medals, 101st Airborne Divisional Recognition from General Dwight D. Eisenhower for Valor and Service to the United States, Personal recognition by General Dwight Eisenhower and General George S. Patton, Jr. for Courage and Valor during “Battle of the Bulge” Winter 1944, and letter of recognition for service and valor from President Harry S Truman.
Willis was a generous, devoted family man and much loved by his family, friends, those who knew him. Willis and wife, Marie, raised there family in California. Upon moving back to Oklahoma, they owned and operated a successful business, and actively participated in there church, and generously supporting various community and service organizations. He retired from Kelco (Merck Corporation) in 1985.
Willis loved hunting and fishing, which he enjoyed all of his life, and shared with his many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice Marie Robinson, and by his son, Danny Earl Robinson.
Willis is survived by his son, Dennis Robinson & wife Jackee of Georgia, daughter, Kathryn Brown & husband Steve of California,
four grandchildren, Richard Robinson & wife Melissa of Michigan,
Julee McGehee & husband Andrew of Georgia,
Bryan Brown of California,
and Todd Brown of California,
five great grandchildren,
Paige Robinson, Aiden Robinson, Grayson McGehee,
Asher McGehee, and Lily McGehee,
brother, Eural Robinson,
sister, Wilma Osborn,
sister, Verda Bechtold,
sister, Earlene Pippin,
sister, Joyce Norris,
as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from noon-8pm at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 1:00pm at Integrity Chapel (410 East Trudgeon St.) in Henryetta, Oklahoma with Bro. Keith Greenfield and Bro. Bennie Porter, officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
